Today I was asked a question: “What is your dream job?”, I was freezing , because I actually don’t know what my dream job is.
I’ve stopped asking my daughter, “What do you want to become when you grow up?”
Personally, I believe AI isn’t something that will happen in the future—it’s already here, and it’s gradually replacing most human jobs. ChatGPT can now act as your psychologist, and many AI programs with powerful structures have appeared online, so perhaps in the future we won’t need teachers. AI can even create music in many different styles…
Today I listened to a TEDx talk by a young speaker about their generation, and one line really stood out:
Roughly translated: “I am not a prophet; I cannot predict the future. But I can be certain that our world 20 years from now will not resemble the one we live in today. So why are we educating the next generation the same way our own generation was taught?”
Over the next 20 years—standards, information, mindsets, ways of thinking, living environments, education, the economy… everything will change. You won’t need to ask your child, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” because you can’t be sure the job they choose will even exist—AI is already replacing humans in tasks ranging from manual labor to intellectual work like planning, reporting, and data research.
So I now aks my child: What are your passions? What does happiness mean to you? And, most importantly, what kind of world do you want to live in when you grow up?
Work with them to create a list of their ideal future life—what they want to see, who they want to befriend, the values they wish to embrace. Then begin by cultivating ourselves from within to build the world we envision.
As for me, I still can’t name my dream job; I only know I want to send this message to the world:
As long as your heart stays calm and you place absolute trust in yourself and in the universe’s design, all good things will arrive swiftly and smoothly, fulfilling every one of your desires.
To do that, I can be an author, a psychologist, a mentor, a public speaker, or a life coach…
I want to do everything I can to deliver this message.
